Questions or comments?
We appreciate your feedback. If there are ways to make your experience on TxTag.org easier, please let us know.
Soon TxTag will be launching a new website and customer service features. These system enhancements will make it easier for customers to open and manage an account, pay toll bills, and access customer support. If you have any questions as we make this transition to a new system that are not addressed below, please contact us via online chat or phone.
When will the new customer services be in place?
The system improvements will begin rolling out between November 30 and December 11, 2020. Prior to the launch of the new website and system, the TxTag Customer Service Center, call center, and online account and payment services will be temporarily closed from November 18 to December 11, 2020.
What happens if my payment is due while the Customer Service Center is temporarily closed?
Although we won't be able to process any payments during the temporary closure, customers will not be penalized or incur any additional fees if they have a payment due while the TxTag Customer Service Center is closed. If you have a bill or late fee due during the closure, the due date will be extended and you will not incur any additional fees or penalties. You'll be able to make your TxTag or Pay By Mail payment online, phone, or in person as soon as the TxTag Customer Service Center reopens on December 11, 2020. Please note this will only apply to TxTag and Pay By Mail bills that are due during the temporary closure.
For TxTag customers on AutoPay, please note that depending on your toll road usage during the closure period, multiple account replenishment charges could be applied to your credit or debit card when the TxTag Customer Service Center reopens.
What will happen to tolls incurred during the TxTag Customer Service Center's temporary closure?
Tolls incurred during the temporary closure will be applied to your account within approximately 15 days of the Customer Service Center reopening. Although you cannot make payments or add money to your TxTag account when the Customer Service Center is closed, you will not be charged any fees for TxTag or Pay By Mail payments that are late due to the closure. Once the new system is in place, you'll be able to access your account online or by phone or visit the TxTag Customer Service Centers in Austin to make payments.
Can I make changes to my account or sign up for TxTag now, before the temporary closure?
Yes. You can make changes to your account or set up a new TxTag account prior to the transition to the new system. Please note that there could be a delay in receiving TxTag stickers if your order is placed just prior to the Customer Service Center's temporary closure.
How will the new customer service changes affect my current account?
New system improvements will provide you easier access and more options for updating your TxTag or Pay By Mail account online and over the phone. If you have multiple types of accounts, they will be combined into one account, so you can see all your tolls and other account activity on one monthly statement and access it with one account number. If you have trouble accessing your account online or through the new automated phone system, call the TxTag Customer Service Center at 1-888-468-9824, Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
What number will I use to log in to my account or pay my bill after the new system improvements are in place?
If you have a TxTag, you'll need to update your log-in credentials when you first sign into the new website. You can use your account number/username and PIN or the email address on file with your account. Once you're set up on the new website, you'll only need your username and password to log in.
If you don't have a TxTag, you'll log in to pay a bill by entering your license plate number or the account number found on your billing statement.
What changes are being made to your phone system?
Our new system will allow you to handle more account management tasks using the automated phone system 24/7 and without needing to wait for a representative. Using your phone, you'll be able to make a payment, update AutoPay information, update your PIN, request a PIN, and request a TxTag. Our call center representatives will still be on hand should you need them from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday to Friday.
I want to make a payment to my account via my phone. Can I do that?
Yes, when the new system is in place, you'll be able to make payments with your smartphone through our new mobile app or via our mobile website at TxTag.org. You'll be able to log in to your TxTag account to make payments, update your account profile, change vehicle information, and manage your credit card information.
What changes are being made to AutoPay?
AutoPay will continue to be the easiest way to keep money in your TxTag account, and you'll be able to include multiple credit and/or debit cards on your account. One will be the primary card that is used for automatic replenishments. The others will be backup cards in case there's a problem completing the transaction through your primary card.
What happens if I have a TxTag account and my account has a negative balance?
TxTag customers who allow their account to go negative will pay the higher Pay By Mail toll rates until they replenish their account. However, they will keep the same account number and all tolls will be posted to that account.
