How to Pay Tolls

Avoid Multiple Accounts

Toll road customers can have three types of accounts: TxTag, Pay By Mail, and Violations accounts. TxTag customers can avoid multiple accounts, as well as the extra fees associated with those accounts, by keeping their license plate information up-to-date and sufficient funds in their account.

There are several situations that can result in the creation of multiple accounts:

  • If your TxTag account balance falls below zero and is suspended, a Pay By Mail account will be created, and you will receive a bill in the mail the next time you drive on a toll road.
  • When a TxTag is not read properly by the toll equipment, the TxTag Customer Service Center attempts to match the license plate on the vehicle to a TxTag account. A Pay By Mail account will be created if the license plate is not linked to a TxTag account. For this reason, it is important to update your TxTag account information if you receive a new license plate.
  • A Violation account is created automatically when a Pay By Mail bill is not paid by the due date. Unpaid transactions are removed from the Pay By Mail account and converted to violation transactions and placed in the Violation account. A $5 fee is applied per transaction, and a Notice of Toll Violation is mailed.

TxTag customers who have multiple accounts should call the TxTag Customer Service Center. If your TxTag account has been suspended, you cannot add money or manage your account online. You should call 1-888-468-9824 to resolve your multiple accounts.
